St. James Lutheran Church

Organized in 1947 as a member of the Augustana Synod, St. James was located in the Oriole Park area of Chicago, at 7400 W. Foster Ave.
Started as a mission of the Saron Lutheran Church, services began in 1946 and the congregation was organized on May 26, 1947. Lots were purchased on the northwest corner of Foster and Oketo Avenues in 1949. The new sanctuary built on that site was dedicated on November 4, 1951. The building was enlarged in 1956 with the addition of a new classroom facility.
