Charles Henry Brosius

 
Charles Henry Brosius was born September 19, 1871, in Ashland, Pennsylvania. He attended Susquehanna University, Selinsgrove, Pennsylvania, and the Lutheran Theological Seminary at Gettysburg. He graduated from the seminary in 1898, and in the same year was installed as the first pastor of the new Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church in Sunbury, Pennsylvania. He remained in that post until 1907. From 1901 to 1922 he served at the Muhlenberg Mission in Liberia, where he received his support chiefly from Zion Lutheran Church in Sunbury. He married Luella Hesse, a fellow missionary at Muhlenberg, on August 19, 1919. Following his return to the United States in 1922, he served as pastor of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of the Redeemer in Williamsport. He was forced by illness to retire around 1929.

The collection consists mainly of correspondence from Brosius to his brother-in-law. There is also an inventory of the letters and a few miscellaneous items, such as brochures. The collection is available on microfilm.
