Christian Churches Together
On January 29, 2003, at Fuller Theological Seminary in Pasadena, California, forty-six national church leaders agreed on a proposal called Christian Churches Together in the U.S.A. (CCT).
This diversity of faith is represented in five historical families:
- Evangelical/Pentecostal
- Historic Protestant
- Orthodox
- Racial/Ethnic
- Roman Catholic
During the 11th plenary session of the 2003 Churchwide Assembly of the ELCA, voting members adopted an action to join CCT. See related news story. The Churchwide Assembly is the chief legislative authority of the ELCA. The action stated that "the purpose of Christian Churches Together is to enable churches and national Christian organizations to grow closer together in Christ in order to strengthen our Christian witness in the world."
