Christian - Jewish Relations
Jewish-Christian National Dialogue Table
The Jewish-Christian National Dialogue Table (JCND) met at the ELCA Churchwide office September 16-17, 2008. The discussion topics focused on 'covenant' and 'land.' The next meeting will take place in February 2009 in Los Angeles. Topics will include Israel 'as a Jewish state' and 'settlements.' These discussions are intensive but honest, and this church continues to foster good working relationships with members of the Jewish community.
Talking Points: Topics in Christian-Jewish RelationsThe
Talking Points are comprised of eight topics for timely discussion on matters of interest to Jewish-Christian relations.
Covenantal ConversationsExplores the shared theological framework, special historical relationship, and post-Holocaust developments and current trouble spots that situate the Jewish-Christian relationship today.
The relationship between Judaism and Christianity is special. No other religion shares so much with Christianity as does Judaism. Both religions affirm the same God. Both religions see God active in history, working toward a goal of shalom. Both regard God to be a God of justice and mercy, who makes covenants and is faithful to them.
