2010 Global Mission Epiphany Series

The Light of Christ from around the World

The Epiphany season celebrates Jesus as the Light to the nations, beginning with the celebration of the Magi, wise men from afar who followed the star to find the Christ child. From the first Sunday after the Epiphany - the Baptism of our Lord - to the last Sunday after Epiphany - the Transfiguration - many churches use this season to focus on how the Light of the World is reflected in and through our global work. May these reflections help you celebrate and share this Light that dawns on a weary world.

Light dawns on a weary world
when eyes begin to see all people's dignity.

Light dawns on a weary world:
the promised day of justice comes.

The trees shall clap their hands;
the dry lands, gush with springs;
the hills and mountains shall break forth with singing!

We shall go out in joy,
and be led forth in peace,
as all the world in wonder echoes shalom.
