Serving with International English-Language Congregations
Global Mission works with international English language congregations which are in the call process for pastors. These congregations fall into two categories:
- International Congregations with ELCA Supported Clergy
- Network for International Congregations
International Congregations with ELCA Supported ClergyThese congregations have a direct programmatic relationship with Global Mission. Applications and congregational profiles are available from Global Mission which conducts candidate screening and evaluation. Pastors called to one of these congregations serve as Global Mission Personnel of Global Mission.
Network for International CongregationsChurches in this category are independent, inter-denominational congregations. Formerly the Office for International Congregations/Christians Abroad of the National Council of the Churches of Christ in the U.S.A., the
Network for International Congregations assists in managing the call process. Interested candidates may contact ELCA Global Mission to request the Personal Data Form (PDF) and the congregational profile. Applications are usually sent directly to the congregation and ELCA Global Mission is not involved in candidate evaluation or employment.
ELCA pastors called to one of the NIC positions are not employed by the ELCA. Those wishing to receive a NIC call as ELCA rostered clergy should be aware that both the site and the candidate must follow a Global Mission process, be approved by ELCA Global Mission and rostered with the Secretary of the ELCA.
