Origami has become a common craft in Taiwan, having been introduced by the Japanese during a long occupation. You can find origami books at your local library, or look on the Worldwide Web.

Paper cutting, similar to that done in China, is a popular craft in Taiwan. The patterns are usually made with black or red paper mounted on a white background. Though the ones made in Taiwan are very intricate, and may be characters or elaborate pictures, you can make a simplified version.

Materials needed:

Red paper
White paper
Scissors
Glue

Fold a piece of red paper in half. Place the pagoda pattern on the fold and cut out. Or design your own pattern.

When pattern is cut out, glue onto white background.
