Mission History
Taiwan Lutheran Church
In 1949, in the wake of the successful Communist Revolution in Mainland China, the Nationalist Government of China moved from Nanjing to the island province of Taiwan. Along with many other Chinese Christians and others as well, Lutherans moved to Taiwan and in 1954 formed the
Taiwan Lutheran Church (TLC). One gifted leader among the immigrants from China was a medical doctor, C. A. Chin, who had been an active lay preacher in mainland China. In Taiwan he gathered factory workers into his home in Kaohsiung for Bible study, leading to the first Lutheran congregation there. Later Dr. Chin was ordained.
