Mission History
Church of Christ in Thailand
The Church of Christ in Thailand (CCT) is the primary companion of the ELCA in Thailand. The CCT was founded in 1934 as the Thai United Church by a merger of several Protestant groups. The largest group was Presbyterian, but the merger also included Lutherans from the German Marburger Mission. The total number of Protestants in Thailand is estimated to be 2 and 3% of the population.
Payap University was founded by the Church of Christ in Thailand in 1973 in Chiang Mai, the second largest city in Thailand, located in the northern part of the country.
