Mission History
Evangelical Church of the Augsburg Confession in the Slovak Republic
The Evangelical Church of the Augsburg Confession in Slovakia (ECACS) was founded in 1918 after the creation of the Czechoslovak Republic. After 1948, when the communists took over the country, the life of the church was reduced to the worship activities only. However, after 1989, with the coming of religious freedom, the church worked hard on restoring its former educational and diaconal institutions as well as concentrating on missionary activities in the urban areas. The first woman was ordained in 1951.
