In Peru, llamas are used for many things--they carry firewood, and their fleece is used to make cloth. Often their ears are pierced and bright yarn is strung through them. Make your own
stuffed llama to remember this important Peruvian animal.

Stuffed llamaMaterials needed:
Tan felt or fur
Scissors
Sewing machine
Polyester stuffing
Bright-colored yarn
Large needle for yarn
Tan thread and needle
Use the pattern shown to cut out llamas. Each crafter will need to cut out two. Have one person operating the sewing machine. As the llamas are cut out, have the sewer sew the pieces together around the outside with a 1/4 inch seam. Leave a several inch opening for turning and stuffing the llama.
Once sewn, turn the llama right side out. Stuff carefully, putting small pieces of stuffing in at a time. When stuffed, whip-stitch the opening.
Thread bright yarn onto a needle and poke through the ear of the llama. Knot it, and cut it off, leaving about an inch hanging on either end of the knot.
