Puerto Rico

Puerto Rico and the US Virgin Islands are part of the ELCA Caribbean Synod. The synod has 34 congregations that participate fully in the programs and missions of the ELCA. All use Spanish language except one congregation in San Juan and the congregations in Virgin Islands. The synod has a strong diaconal ministry through Lutheran Social Services of the Virgin Islands, a ministry that dates back to 1967 when the Queen Louise Home for Children was opened.
