Venezuela
In Venezuela, the ELCA engages in ministry ecumenically. Lutheran churches have a long tradition of working together in mission. This ecumenical collaboration means:
- less duplication of effort and costs
- more access to operational, on-the-ground expertise
- access to places where there are few or no Lutherans
- stronger, more effective ministry.
In Venezuela, the ELCA works specifically through the Comision Evangelica Pentecostal Latinoamerica (CEPLA). CEPLA is an ecumenical organization that aims to consolidate and provide a unified voice to the historical Pentecostal Churches that have worked together for over 40 years in common programs and initiatives. The main objective of CEPLA is the dialog and reflection around the Latin America Pentecostal Identity, its contribution to the ecumenical movement and the mission of the church.
Churchwide funding through the ELCA Global Mission unit supports the main priority identified by CEPLA with a grant that funds the participation and promotion of women in CEPLA and in ministry.
