Our goal is to find quality employees, interns and volunteers for the ELCA community.

Human Resources assists churchwide units with their staffing needs by representing the ELCA to prospective employees through job fairs and university programs, and screening applications and resumes.  Assistance is also offered with position advertisement on the internet, in synods, colleges and universities, and in newspapers.

IT SERVICE DESK INTERN
OFFICE OF THE TREASURER/INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY
· Provide technical support for ELCA-provided IT services including PC hardware and software. This will include diagnostic, repair, and installation services for users throughout the organization. · Respond to IT Service Desk incidents and service requests as assigned by the IT Service Desk Supervisor, or proxy, and provide an accurate description of problem resolution. · Assist with IT Service Desk projects as assigned.  · Assemble, disassemble, and move, or ship equipment as necessary.  · Install, set up, maintain and move phone extensions and equipment as assigned.   Work cooperatively with all IT staff and the user community for problem resolution. · Troubleshoot and research complex problems as assigned. Escalate as necessary. · Assist the IT Service Desk Coordinator with inventory and asset control as needed. · Other duties as assigned.  QUALIFICATIONS:  · Knowledge of current desktop and laptop hardware and operating systems used at the ELCA churchwide office, including but not limited to Windows 7. · Knowledge of commonly-used software including but not limited to the current version of MS Office Suite.  · Familiarity with TCP/IP networking.  · Familiarity with desktop and network printers.  · Ability to analyze problems & provide solutions including researching via the Internet.  · Ability to work collegially within a dynamic environment.  · Some experience in a personal computer support environment or applicable course work including hands-on experience.


WEB DEVELOPER INTERN
OFFICE OF THE TREASURER/INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY

This individual will be responsible for developing Web and business applications in support of the organization’s website and enterprise systems. Through an understanding of user and application requirements, and a sound understanding of application development principles, the Web Developer Intern will help to generate web based products that meet business objectives and user needs using Microsoft development tools. The Intern will also assist the website team with a continued development of the ELCA.org website and a number of projects to support the organization's websites and enterprise systems. The intern will work closely with application and business analyst, senior developers, and other IT staff.   QUALIFICATIONS: - Strong knowledge of HTML, XHTML, DHTML, ASP.NET, XML, JavaScript, CSS, SQL Server 2008, database design, SQL Queries and Stored Procedures. - Background in object oriented programming (OOP). - Strong understanding of Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC). - Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects and deliver on deadlines. - One or two years of web development experience or equivalent combination of education and experience. Advanced coursework in ASP.NET is preferred. - Self-motivated and possess strong problem solving ability. - Work independently and persistently on intern projects. - Excellent organization and communications skills. - Knowledge and experience with Microsoft Sharepoint software is a plus. - Knowledge and experience with SiteCore CMS software is a plus.

PUBLIC RELATIONS INTERN
MISSION ADVANCEMENT
The intern will play an active role in the Public Relations team by writing promotional materials and feature stories, assisting in project management and providing support for the overall the ELCA Marketing Communications team. Responsibilities include: Writing copy for a wide variety of communication channels, including feature stories, promotional materials and more; supporting the LivingLutheran.com team with its daily production schedule and promotional efforts; working with the social media team to update and monitor Facebook; developing and executing plans to promote various ELCA events. We seek a strong writer who is a creative and strategic thinker excited about the mission and ministry of the ELCA. The right candidate will be able to work both independently and with a team and successfully meet deadlines.Qualifications: Exceptional communication skills both verbal and written. Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively. Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines. Course work completed in communications, public relations, advertising, marketing or English preferred. Writing samples required


DIGITAL MEDIA INTERN
MISSION ADVANCEMENT
The intern will assist the digital media team in finding images and content for the organization’s websites and social media platforms. Assist our website development team in current and future projects. Design graphic charts and processes. Work with the digital media team to brainstorm and storyboard creative concepts for videos, including promotional campaign videos and internal videos. Publish videos to YouTube, Vimeo and Facebook. Duplicate and archive current videos. Organize digital assets and editing library – prepare drive and catalogue footage to ensure the best photos and videos are available. Qualifications: Compliant in (X)HTML, CSS, Javascript, and related APIs. At least an intermediate knowledge of video production and editing. In pursuit of a bachelor or graduate degree at an accredited institution in Digital Media, Video Production or Computer Science. Strong understanding of computers and multimedia applications. Strong working knowledge of Final Cut Studio and the Adobe Creative Suite, including After Effects, Premiere, Photoshop, and Illustrator. Knowledge of video compression for interactive and online programs. An understanding of technical aspects of video and audio compression, including codec and/or playback settings and standards for a variety of platforms and devices. Strong personal interest in all things video, social media and multimedia design. Creative with the ability to come up with innovative concepts for videos to spread awareness about our cause and mission. Able to multi-task.


MARKETING INTERN
MISSION ADVANCEMENT
The marketing intern will assist with the development of marketing communications efforts to heighten the awareness of the ELCA and its major campaigns and appeals. Responsibilities include: Providing project coordination for the production of marketing and promotional resources, direct mail campaigns, email campaigns and stationery; writing and developing content for ELCA.org; and assisting with trend analysis and research. We seek a self-motivated candidate with strong writing and project management skills who is a creative and strategic thinker excited about the mission and ministry of the ELCA. The right candidate will be able to work both independently and with a team to successfully meet deadlines. Qualifications: Exceptional communication skills both verbal and written; Excellent project coordination skills. Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively. Theoretical and working knowledge of print and electronic media. Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines. Course work completed in communications, public relations, advertising, marketing or English preferred. Writing samples required
