Apply for a Loan

The Mission Investment Fund recommends that congregations and ELCA-related ministries contact a loan administrator before beginning the loan-application process. Call 877.886.3522 toll free. Loan information is also available from the area representative and church building consultant who serve your synod. To reach them, contact the Mission Investment Fund. New mission congregations interested in purchasing land or constructing an initial church building should contact their synod's mission director.

How will the Mission Investment Fund make a decision on an application?

Generally, loans are granted to healthy ELCA congregations that reflect the demographics of the ministry's surrounding neighborhood. The Mission Investment Fund reviews a congregation's growth and financial history to develop a loan program that your congregation can repay in a mission-minded way.

Also, the Mission Investment Fund reviews the ELCA Congregational Trend Report and your congregation's annual reports, future ministry plans, construction plans and other documents that you think will help the fund understand your ministry.

Make Loan Payments Automatically.
When your Mission Investment Fund loan is approved, payments can be automatically deducted from the ministry's checking account through Automated Clearing House (ACH) transactions.
