Our Mission

Helping you do God's work in the world.

As a ministry of the ELCA, we share this church’s continuing mission to share God’s boundless love with the world.

We work toward accomplishing this in two ways:

  • by providing investments that are similar to savings accounts, checking accounts, money market accounts, and CDs to ELCA members, congregations and ELCA-related ministries, and
  • by providing loans and supporting services to new and established ELCA congregations and related ministries.

What kind of investments?

Many fixed- and adjustable-rate options, including:

  • TERM INVESTMENTS (like a Certificate of Deposit)
  • DEMAND INVESTMENTS (similar to checking and savings accounts, but with higher money-market-like rates)
  • MIF4KIDZ  (a savings-like account designed specifically for children)
  • HEALTH SAVINGS, EDUCATION and RETIREMENT ACCOUNTS.

With highly competitive rates and an array of convenient support services, the Mission Investment Fund offers outstanding investment opportunities to individuals, families, congregations, synods and ELCA-related ministries.

What kind of loans?

The kind that help build the mission and ministry of the church -- the kind that truly make a difference. For example, capital funds to start a new congregation for a community that needs a place to gather and worship. Loans to replace a boiler, or expand a Sunday School classroom, or  for a "green" initiative. Resources to start a soup kitchen, or other much-needed ministries in a community. Big or small, our loans help thousands of congregations and ELCA-related ministries accomplish their critical goals. And our building consultants have the expertise to help those congregations see their projects through to completion, at no charge to the congregation or ministry.
