Several changes to the standard provisions for ELCA congregations’ constitutions were approved at the 2009 Churchwide Assembly. A list of changes can be found
here. 
The process for amending a congregation's constitution is found in Chapter 17 of the Model Constitution for Congregations. If the text is preceded by an asterisk, the provision is required; changes to the Model Constitution for Congregations are for the congregation's consideration and possible adoption.
