Bishop Murray Finck of the Pacifica Synod from offers a low-impact stretching and “high-impact” prayer in the Minneapolis Convention Center each morning. Bishop Finck directs participants to each new posture, stretch, or exercise and teaches some deep-breathing exercises. The time ends with six prayer postures: adoration, confession, absolution, petition, intercession, and contemplation.

Sponsored by the ELCA Board of Pensions, "Run, Walk, 'n' Roll" offers a way for assembly-goers to stretch their legs and catch a little fresh air before plenary sessions begin. Groups go out as teams and are provided with water, directions, and much encouragement! Participants go at their own pace through the picturesque parks and urban environment of beautiful downtown Minneapolis.

He asked them what in the last three weeks has God been doing though their hands, referring to the ELCA's tagline, "God's work. Our hands." "'God’s work. Our hands' became much more than the tag line for the ELCA," Hanson said, "for it became a powerful and memorable way for us to communicate not only who we are, but whose we are."

Members of Lutheran Youth Organization joined those participating in the "Affirming You Leaders" event for rostered leaders who are in their first call and are age 31 or younger. This group offers fresh ideas and perspectives and they're not afraid to let themselves be heard!

[ ] Members of Lutheran Youth Organization joined those participating in the "Affirming Young Leaders" event for rostered leaders who are in their first call and are age 31 or younger. This is a unique, one-time event allowed young rostered leaders to gather with peers and enlarge their understanding of the church. Youth and young leaders offer fresh ideas and perspectives and they're not afraid to let themselves be heard!

New York singing sensation Roosevelt Credit led the assembly in singing praises to God. Soulful and moving, the assembly joined in his joyful expressions of hope and faith and love.

[ ] New York singing sensation Roosevelt Credit led the assembly in singing praises to God. Soulful and moving, the assembly joined in his joyful expressions of hope and faith and love. A Broadway performer, Credit has played in the Tony Award-winning Show Boat. His Web site note, "Credit was awarded the Theron Montgomery Award by the Broadway community twice, recognizing him as a positive role model both on and off stage. Some of his other philanthropic associations are Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS, Rockland Family Shelter, Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, and Metropolitan Ministries."

Elizabeth KcKee Gore, of the United Nations Foundation, thanks the assembly for their consideration of the Lutheran Malaria Initiative. Malaria causes more than 300 million acute illnesses and at least one million deaths annually. The assembly is being asked to approve continued development of the initiative, prepare resources and solicit donors during the next two years.

There was a Board of Pensions Update, Book of Faith: Lutherans Read the Bible, Evangelizing Congregations, HIV and AIDS Strategy, Ministry Policies Recommendations, Full-Communion Agreement with The United Methodist Church, and World Hunger Appeal/Disaster Response. Hearings are a more informal, intimate way to dig deeper into a specific topic.
