Members of the Church Council, Boards, and Committees

 
The responsibilities of those elected to serve this church are described in detail in the Constitution, Bylaws, and Continuing Resolutions of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America.
 
The ELCA's 65 synods elect the voting members of the Churchwide Assembly.  For a list of voting members see the Pre-Assembly Report (Section I) or the Assembly Minutes (Actions) for the specific Churchwide Assembly.
 
The boards of directors of ELCA colleges, universities, and seminaries are listed on the Web sites of the specific institutions.
 
Synodical bishops and other elected synodical officers are listed on the Web sites of the specific synods.  [Complete listing of regions and synods]  The Conference of Bishops is composed of the 65 synodical bishops, the presiding bishop, and secretary of the ELCA.
 
The Church Council includes the four officers of this church, the chair of the Conference of Bishops, and 33 to 45 people elected by the Churchwide Assembly.  The Conference of Bishops elects one bishop from each of the nine regions to serve as advisory members.  The Church Council elects the treasurer, executive for administration, unit executive directors, and the editor of The Lutheran magazine, who are included in the Churchwide Office Staff Lookup.
