Flexible Spending Accounts
Many pastors, rostered lay leaders and lay employees of ELCA congregations are looking for ways to help pay for rising out-of-pocket health care and/or dependent care expenses. One way to lighten the burden of these increasing costs is through flexible spending accounts.
The ELCA Flexible Benefits Plan provides eligible employees the opportunity to use pretax dollars to pay for some or all of their eligible health care and/or dependent care expenses by entering into a salary-reduction arrangement with their employers.
Explore what these accounts are, consider the advantages and disadvantages, and get specific details about how sponsored members with ELCA primary health coverage can participate in the ELCA Flexible Benefits Plan through the ELCA Board of Pensions.
