Partner Synods

Partner Synods are groups of two [or three] synods from different locations in the ELCA working to form community and partnership. The partnership, adopted by the March 2002 session of the Conference of Bishops, will allow synods to become familiar with the history, customs, culture, and faith practices of their ELCA brothers and sisters.

How your synod can get involved

• Pray for one another regularly
• Exchange bishops as an ELCA churchwide representative or as a special guest at a synod assembly
• Plan a meeting of synodical voting members at Churchwide Assemblies
• Arrange opportunities for meetings or dialogues between synod councils, youth leaders, women's organizations, candidacy committees, and mission outreach committees
• Encourage mission trips, choir tours, and other visits to one another's synods
