ELCA members are celebrating a significant achievement in the fight against malaria. In 2009, ELCA members responded to calls from companions and partners in Africa to raise $15 million by the end of 2015 as part of a global movement to help end malaria. Recently that goal was met. While zip lining at the 2015 Youth Gathering in Detroit, ELCA Presiding Bishop Elizabeth Eaton had fun but kept a tight grip. In her life, she says, she also used to “white-knuckle it,” trying to hold on and manage everything. “But,” she says, “when I realized if I just let go, God was right there, and I can fall and not be afraid.”
