Supporting Young Adults in Global Mission

We are a church that is a catalyst, convener and bridge builder.

That’s why every year the ELCA provides a number of young adults the opportunity to grow in their faith and work hand-in-hand with our global neighbors through our Young Adults in Global Mission (YAGM) program.

Volunteers, who range in age from 21 to 29, take the plunge into a life-changing year-long journey in communities around the world. As they share their gifts of service, they also receive the gifts of their hosts' hospitality, engaging in relationships of mutuality, interdependence, solidarity and trust. Since its inception, the program has grown from just 10 volunteers serving in one country to more than 60 serving in nine countries. Your gifts will help us expand this program in 2014 so that there are over 70 Young Adults in Global Mission serving in ten countries. There are nearly 500 Young Adults in Global Mission alumni, many of whom have taken on significant leadership roles in church and society.

No matter where or how they serve, every one of our Young Adults in Global Mission needs your prayers, support and gifts to succeed in their work. It costs only $11,000 to provide one young adult missionary with training, airfare, a small living allowance, health insurance and simple room and board for a year. That’s just $30 a day to invest in empowering young leaders through life-changing global service.

Please join us in God’s amazing work. Help raise up young leaders:
