World Food Day

Mark your calendars! We will go live on Oct. 16 at 4 p.m. Central time right here and on the ELCA’s Facebook and YouTube pages for a special event honoring World Food Day.

Learn something new about the complex food crisis our world faces, and see your generosity in action, funding creative and sustainable solutions. The event begins at 4 p.m. Central time — be sure to bookmark this page or "like" the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America page so you're notified when we go live on Oct. 16!

Can we count on your support in the work to end hunger? Gifts to ELCA World Hunger in honor of World Food Day will support the Global Farm Challenge, a campaign to support the sustainable-development-related work of ELCA World Hunger.

Rick Steves

Meet our host, Rick Steves!

Rick Steves is the founder and owner of Rick Steves’ Europe, a popular public television host, a best-selling guidebook author and an outspoken activist who encourages Americans to broaden their perspectives through travel. But above all else, Rick considers himself a teacher. He taught his first travel class at his college campus in the mid-1970s and now, more than 40 years later, still measures his success not by dollars earned but by trips impacted.

Rick works closely with several advocacy groups and makes regular financial contributions to more than 170 organizations, including ELCA World Hunger. Read more about Rick Steves.
