Responding to the Haiti earthquake

Lutheran women are known for many things, including making quilts, health kits and layette kits. Lutheran World Relief is working to mobilize thousands of these as the needs in Haiti grow. We encourage you to support LWR's efforts. Use these prayers for the dedication of quilts and relief projects with your group or your whole congregation.

Any funds you collect at a Women of the ELCA meeting or gathering can be sent through the churchwide office, which also helps us track giving from the women's organization. 100% of your gift will be immediately forwarded to ELCA Disaster Response. Send check with Form B to:

How much do you know about Katharina von Bora Luther?

Her birthday was January 29. She was Martin's wife, of course, and most certainly a bold woman of faith. But she was also a mother, farmer, brewmaster, innkeeper, and more. What we know of her life—from that leap of faith on Easter Eve in 1523 to her controversial marriage and entrepreneurial spirit—tells a fascinating and inspiring story.

We have a great short resource, A Bold Life of Faith: Katharina von Bora Luther, that will teach you a few things you might not have known about her. It might also help you see a little bit of yourself in her as well, since we like to think there’s a little bit of Katie in all of us.

Did you know that we have a special fund named after her? Katie's Fund supports ministries in three key areas: leadership development, global sharing, and living theology. Learn more about Katie's Fund and give a gift today.
