The 2009 ELCA Youth Gathering was a servant school in New Orleans based on Philippians 2:1-8. At the center of the Gathering program was a deepening awareness of God’s call to servanthood, and a deepening of basic Christian practices by which we live our baptismal calling to servanthood throughout life.

How do you carry the Gathering experience forward in meaningful and relevant ways?

Gathering To Go is a youth-directed resource that will help young people understand their time in New Orleans as an experience of ongoing, lifelong faith and gospel-driven service rather than a one-time mountaintop experience.

Jesus Justice Jazz: The Tour

• Rachel Kurtz, LOST AND FOUND, and Agape will be on tour after the ELCA Youth Gathering to challenge and encourage youth to live a life of Jesus-centered justice.
• The Tour includes service opportunities, concerts, offerings that benefit the ELCA World Hunger Lutheran Youth Challenge and local ministries, and a rockin' time for youth!

As we thank God and all God's people for the ELCA Youth Gathering just completed in New Orleans, we're also looking ahead to plans for 2012. At this point, those who direct the ELCA Youth Gathering are prayerfully considering all options for the 2012 site.

No decisions have been made; once they have been made, we will communicate them promptly. Stay tuned. And, of course, suggestions and comments are welcome at gathering@elca.org.
