Advocacy Ministries

"Give justice to the weak and the orphan; maintain the right of the lowly and the destitute. Rescue the weak and the needy; deliver them from the hand of the wicked." Psalm 82:3-4

 
There are three advocacy ministries of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America: ELCA Washington Office, State Public Policy Offices, and Lutheran Office for World Community. Each ministry advocactes for just, sound and compassionate public social policies based upon the officially adopted social justice policy positions of the ELCA.

The Lutheran Office for World Community represents the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America and The Lutheran World Federation (LWF) at the United Nations (UN) headquarters in New York under a written agreement between the ELCA Congregational and Synodical Mission program unit and the LWF.
