For Hunger Leaders

You can help raise money for and awareness about ELCA World Hunger!

 ELCA World Hunger Leaders

As a hunger leader, you are involved in fund-raising, educating, advocating, and organizing on behalf of ELCA World Hunger. It can be a big job, but you’re not alone! Here you will find resources and ideas to help you carry out your ministry. We encourage you to take what you need and also to share your own gifts with others who visit here.

Perhaps the most valuable resource you can tap is the collective experience of other hunger leaders. Read about what other hunger leaders are doing, take copies of their documents, and offer your own. Please click on browse samples to learn more.

COMING UP
Browse a current listing of events, grant opportunities, and other hunger-related notices that might be of interest to you or those you relate to.  If you have a local or especially regional event that is open to others and you would like to submit that for consideration to be published there, please send that to hunger@elca.org

Education and Advocacy grants (off-cycle) now available
ELCA World Hunger Education and Advocacy grants fund activities of organizations that work for justice by using a variety of education and advocacy strategies to address the root causes and solutions of hunger. Off-cycle grant applications are now being accepted. Off-cycle grant requests must be for projects that have not already been funded this year by ELCA World Hunger.  Download the information sheet below, which provides contact information for requesting an application.

Please note that the gathering Web address is not for public distribution or printing, such as in a newsletter.  It is only for the use of synod hunger teams, hunger leaders, and participants of these events.  Thank you.

There is a seat at “The Table” for you! Join the new ELCA World Hunger social network where you can connect, communicate, post photos and videos, and do much more with like-minded people committed to ending world hunger.  Go to The Table.

WebEx

Want to try a whole new way of holding hunger committee meetings? Try WebEx, a tool for conducting meetings using the Internet and a telephone. WebEx is most helpful when meeting in person is impractical--such as when people are too far apart to gather in one place--and when everyone needs to look at something together, such as a document, Web site, or whiteboard. In these situations, WebEx can be a very valuable tool.

World Hunger invites you to consider whether WebEx could be useful for you and your hunger committee. If you’d like to hold a hunger-related meeting using WebEx, Nancy Michaelis (800.638.3522, ext. 2713) would be happy to set it up for you! The WebEx software and associated telephone charges are being paid for by World Hunger. The only potential cost to you is the fee, if any, that you pay for Internet access. So please try it out and let us know what you think!

Welcome Kit
If you’re starting or joining a hunger team in your synod, you’ll want this Welcome Kit. It includes handy information about how to get started, possible activities, sources of help, and more.
