Jackson-Skelton is treasurer of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA), president and executive director of the ELCA Mission Investment Fund.
The LWF is a communion of 145 member churches in 79 counties, representing more than 70 million Christians worldwide. The 48-member council serves as the LWF's governing body between assemblies.
Jackson-Skelton was elected to serve on the council at the LWF Eleventh Assembly, which met July 20-27 in Stuttgart, Germany. Lutherans who were elected and present for the assembly attended their first council meeting July 28-29.

"Christina Jackson-Skelton's gifted leadership as ELCA treasurer and president of the ELCA Mission Investment Fund has prepared her well for this position of global leadership," said the Rev. Mark S. Hanson, ELCA presiding bishop. Hanson was president of the LWF from 2003 until the LWF Assembly in Stuttgart.
"Christina's election is affirmation of her exceptional skills in providing financial oversight," said Hanson, adding that the election exemplifies "her passion for mission throughout the world, commitment to a vibrant and growing LWF and knowledge of complex international financial systems."
From 1996 to 2001 Jackson-Skelton was director of finance for ELCA Global Mission. The ELCA Church Council elected Jackson-Skelton to become ELCA treasurer in 2001.
Jackson-Skelton earned a bachelor's degree in 1987 from Concordia College, Moorhead, Minn., one of 27 ELCA colleges and universities. She earned a master's degree in business administration in 1988 from Thunderbird Graduate School of Global Management, Glendale, Ariz.
