Chaplaincy

Chaplaincy in the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America
Reaching directly into our world, chaplains encounter people in the midst of everydays settings and extend the Word and Love of God in Jesus Christ to persons at the point of their deepest need.

Saint Paul reminds us in his Letter to the Romans to Rejoice with those who rejoice; weep with those who weep. Chaplaincy is one of the most exciting and diverse public ministries in the ELCA. Chaplains serve in health care facilities, correctional institutions, in the workplace, colleges, on the battlefield, and elder care facilities, among other places. While the settings may have little in common, ELCA Chaplains extend the Word and Love of God in Jesus Christ to all!

Is God Calling You to Serve as a Chaplain?
The ELCA is seeking to identify and nurture still more committed persons interested in exploring this meaningful and challenging expression of the church’s mission. Want to learn more?
