State Offices

"You shall appoint judges and officials throughout your tribes, in all your towns that the Lord your God is giving you, and they shall render just decisions for the people. … Justice, and only justice, you shall pursue, so that you may live and occupy the land that the Lord your God is giving you" Deuteronomy 16:18, 20.

The Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, through a partnership of churchwide, synodical, social ministry organizations and other stakeholders supports state public policy advocacy offices.

These ministries represent this church in advocating at the state government level with and on behalf of those without economic or political power.

State office work is directed to hunger-related causes such as food and nutrition, shelter and affordable housing, environmental stewardship and justice, employment and income, and access to preventative and primary health care.
