Poverty Ministries Networking
Working within the framework of “prophetic diakonia”—providing relief services while addressing the underlying causes of poverty, Poverty Ministries Networking confronts the scandalous realities related to exclusion, poverty, hunger, and violence. We do this through individual and group networking, training events, and technical assistance to ELCA synods, congregations, agencies, and other community organizations, as well as by relating to social ministry organizations, state public policy advocacy offices, and congregation-based community organizing efforts.
If you work in poverty ministries, you may feel alone and isolated. Networking is a way to break out of such isolation and meet others who share your commitment to community transformation. Benefits of networking include:
- Sharing success stories
- Learning best practices
- Learning new skills and enhancing your existing skills
- Learning new ideas for programs and ministries
- Gaining a deeper connection with the life and ministry of the ELCA
- Developing a nationwide community of people who share your commitment and values
Poverty Ministries Networking sponsors national events to bring poverty and hunger activists together to become more effective community leaders.
