Ecumenical and Inter-Religious Relations
That they may all be one
~ John 17:21
The quest for Christian unity in the world inspires the faith and shapes the life of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. The ELCA office of Ecumenical and Inter-Religious Relations has the task of assisting this church in that quest.

On Tuesday, September 7, The Rev. Donald J. McCoid, Executive for Ecumenical and Inter-Religious Relations, represented the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA) at a coalition of Christian, Jewish, and Muslim leaders to denounce rising anti-Muslim rhetoric and bigotry in the United States, as the country prepares to commemorate the ninth anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks.
On August 22, 2010, Andrew and Sarah Wilson will depart from the Augustinian priory in Erfurt, Germany, on a seventy-day, thousand-mile pilgrimage to Rome. The Wilsons will follow the same path Augustinian friar Martin Luther trod 500 years ago in 1510, arriving in Rome in the last days of October.
“We noticed this significant anniversary coming up,” said Andrew, “and thought it would be great to commemorate it by retracing Luther’s own steps.” Read the
