Music and the Reformation in which musicians from all over the U.S. visited Luther sites, sang and had a chance to play the organ in the Castle Church and visited beautiful churches and the homes or museums of Mendelssohn, Schumann, Bach and Handel.
Towards 2017: The 500th Anniversary of the Reformation
The Luther Decade, begun in 2008, commemorates the events leading up to 2017, the year considered by many to be the birth of the Reformation. Themes have been planned throughout these years with the Evangelical Church in Germany, culminating in special memorial events in 2017. See
the Luther Decade website for information centered around the themes and pilgrimages to the Reformation sites.
Think about having your choir participate in the International Choir Forum during 2012, a chance to sing in the Castle Church between May and October, 2012, take advantage of the many musical offerings and see the sites of Luther during
the year of Music and the Reformation. For more information on the International Choir Forum, see the Castle Church's website at
www.schlosskirche-wittenberg.de.

Muhlenberg and Lutherland 2012
Led by Dr. Andrew J. White, Professor emeritus at the Lutheran Theological Seminary at Philadelphia May 15 - 28, 2012
The Lutheran Historical Societies of the Mid-Atlantic and of Eastern Pennsylvania invite you to consider a trip that is a Lutheran Historian’s dream – Muhlenberg plus Lutherland. Three hundred years ago, 1711, Henry Melchior Muhlenberg, Patriarch of the Lutheran Church in America, was born. We celebrate his birth by returning to the land of his birth and the land of Luther. This trip offers a fitting climax to the Muhlenberg Year 2011 – 2012 and provides a "stepping" stone" on the pathway to the 500th anniversary of the Reformation (1517 – 2017.) The itinerary includes Eisenach, Wartburg Castle, Einbeck (Muhlenberg’s birthplace), Halle, Eisleben, Wittenberg, Torgau, Herrnhut (Moravians), Leipzig, Erfurt, Marburg, Worm and Mainz.
Cost is $ 1,990.00 per person (not including airfair), double occupancy, based on 35 people. Single room supplement is $400.00. If fewer than 35 register the price will be somewhat higher per person.
