A Proposed Social Statement on Human Sexuality

Journey Together Faithfully: A Call to Study and Dialogue

In 2001, the Churchwide Assembly voted in favor of a resolution that initiated a process within the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America to develop a social statement on human sexuality.

The Task Force for the ELCA Studies on Sexuality was then formed to study this issue and has lead the members ELCA through a social statement development process.

This church is still engaging in discernment on this issue as the Draft Social Statement on Human Sexuality has recently been released. After the church responds to the draft statement, the task force will then consider all comments and develop a proposed social statement, which will be brought before the 2009 Churchwide Assembly for a vote.

We are all continuing to Journey Together Faithfully as this social statement comes to fruition. Thank you for joining us on our Faithful Journey.
