Marilyn Sorenson-Bush Joins ELCA Multicultural Commission

SORENSON-BUSH: AMERICAN INDIAN/ALASKA NATIVE MINISTRIES

Marilyn Sorenson-Bush, Cape Canaveral, Fla., has been named director
for American Indian and Alaska Native ministries, racial justice
ministries in the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America's Commission
for Multicultural Ministries effective June 1.  Sorenson-Bush, a
member of the Sisseton-Wahpaton Sioux Tribe, served as chairperson for
the Multicultural Ministries Committee in the ELCA's Florida-Bahamas
Synod in 1995.  She served as a board member for Women of the ELCA,
the women's organization of the ELCA, from 1993 to 1996. "I am excited
about the gifts Marilyn will bring to the commission," said the Rev.
Frederick E.N. Rajan, executive director for the commission.
Sorenson-Bush succeeds Kathleen Fleury. The Rev. Gordon J. Straw,
Bethel Lutheran Church, Chicago, served as interim-director since
Fleury's resignation in September 1996.
