LUTHERAN MEN PLANNING EVENTS
Lutheran Men in Mission, the men's organization of the
Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, is making plans for five
regional gatherings this summer. The gatherings will focus on
"men building relationships with family and other men," said
Doug Haugen, LMM director. Meeting under the theme "Building
Men: Building Relationships," the gatherings are planned for
Seattle; Woodland Hills, Calif.; Allentown, Pa.; Sioux Falls, S.D.;
and Toccoa, Ga. "In 1997 and beyond we will see more men
encounter Jesus Christ," said Haugen. Through LMM's "Master
Builders: Building Men for Christ" program "we will build men's
faith, relationships and ministry through men's gatherings, Bible
studies and leadership development," said Haugen. Gifts and
contributions for LMM in 1996 exceeded its goal of $86,400,
reported Haugen. The Master Builders Funding Committee has
developed a five-year plan to generate $200,000 a year in
contributions for LMM by the year 2001. "The plan involves the
ongoing training of the synod staff and volunteers and for the
employment of a contracted staff person," said Haugen.
