VISION FOR MISSION
More than 13,500 leaders from across the Evangelical Lutheran
Church in America have responded to the Vision for Mission
appeal with gifts totaling $1.2 million. The Vision for Mission
Fund provides an opportunity for individual members of the
ELCA to make gifts over and above congregational giving in
support of global and domestic mission. The ELCA Foundation
reports that an additional $148,166 in Vision for Mission gifts
have been credited through the Foundation. "Since the start of
Vision for Mission in 1993, over $3 million has been placed into
the ELCA Foundation, and $4 million has been received in direct
gifts to the fund," said Jerry Olstad, Vision for Mission director. In
addition to the leadership response, the ELCA's 11,000
congregations will be asked to distribute Vision for Mission
materials to every ELCA member household on May 18.
