ELCA'S LOHR IS WCC INTERN
Mary Christine (Christy) Lohr, 24, a member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America from
Shelby, N.C., is working as a young adult intern in the United States Office of the World Council of
Churches. As a young adult intern for one year, Lohr will support the overall work of the U.S. Office
and work closely with the Youth Team of the WCC and the Young Adult Ministry Team of National
Council of Churches of Christ in the U.S.A. She will also assist in the planning of regional and
international events related to the office, including the U.S. Conference Annual Meeting and 8th
Assembly Preparatory Conference Dec. 11-13. Lohr received a masters degree in religious studies
this year from the University of South Carolina in Columbia where she also served as campus
minister. She is a 1994 graduate of Appalachian State University, Boone, N.C. In 1995, Lohr was a
volunteer journalist for the ELCA Division for Global Mission in Nairobi, Kenya. She is a member
of Ascension Lutheran Church in Shelby.
