CHICAGO (ELCA) -- LaRue Unglaube has been named director of the Department for Information Technology of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA).
Unglaube served as a systems analyst from 1988 to1993 and the unit's manager for systems development from 1993 to 1999. She succeeds Kenneth F. Aicher, who recently joined the staff of the ELCA's Florida- Bahamas Synod as an assistant to the bishop.
"Her broad knowledge of information technology and her work in the past have proven that she will be a superb manager for this unit," said Richard L. McAuliffe, treasurer of the ELCA.
Prior to coming to the ELCA, Unglaube was an engineering aid for the Continuum Dynamics, Inc., Princeton, N.J.
Unglaube is a graduate of Carthage College, Kenosha, Wis., where she received a degree in elementary education. She taught five years in the public school system and was the director of Christian education for eight years at St. Andrew Lutheran Church, Hickory, N.C.

The department also provides computer and technical support for the ELCA staff during churchwide assemblies and Women of the ELCA triennial conventions.
LaRue Unglaube is married to Jim Unglaube, associate vice president for advancement and planned giving at Carthage College, a college of the ELCA. They have two adult children, Carla Erickson and Andrew.
