ELCA Council Fills Vacancies on Boards, Committees

CHICAGO (ELCA) The Church Council of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA) filled a vacancy on the council and several vacancies on two steering committees.
The Church Council is the ELCA's board of directors and serves as the legislative authority of the church between churchwide assemblies. The council met April 9-12 in Chicago. Assemblies are held every other year; the next is August 16-22 in Denver.
Elected to the Church Council was the Rev. Sarah J. Stumme, pastor of Zion Lutheran Church, Trevorton, Pa. She replaces the Rev. Joan A. Mau, Washington Island, Wis. who resigned.
The council elected Wendy J. McCredie, Seguin, Texas, to fill a vacancy on the steering committee of the Commission for Women and Kathleen T. Petrich, Seattle, to the steering committee of the Commission for Multicultural Ministries.
The council also ratified appointments of several members to the steering committee of the Commission for Multicultural Ministries: Daniel N. Solee, Columbia, Md.; the Rev. Michele L. Robinson, Chicago; the Rev. Corazon G. Aguilar, San Leandro, Calif.; Carlos A. Gonzalez, Silver Spring, Md.; and Justin M. Oakman, Northfield, Minn.
