Walt Wangerin Featured in 'Journey Toward Forgiveness' on ABC-TV

November 21, 2001

CHICAGO (ELCA) -- The Rev. Walter M. Wangerin Jr., storyteller and a pastor of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA), will be featured on "Journey Toward Forgiveness," an hour-long television documentary to air on ABC-TV stations across the country beginning Dec. 2.
The documentary will highlight stories of people who have dealt with anger and forgiveness in the face of violent or wrongful death, near-death experiences from racial injustice, death of ancestors by genocide, and terminal illness.
Wangerin will tell a story about a couple dealing with cancer and the woman's anger toward her husband's illness.
Wangerin is speaker for "Lutheran Vespers," the radio ministry of the ELCA, and a faculty member at Valparaiso (Ind.) University.
"Journey Toward Forgiveness" was produced by Mennonite Media on behalf of the National Council of Churches of Christ in the U.S.A. (NCC). The documentary will be made available to ABC-TV network affiliates through the Interfaith Broadcasting Commission's "Vision and Values" series. It will be aired at the discretion of the local television stations. The ELCA, a member of the NCC, served as a "denominational partner" in the production of the documentary. - - -
