CHICAGO (ELCA) -- Two pilot programs of a new television version of "The Protestant Hour" will be broadcast March 3 and March 24 on the Hallmark Channel's "America at Worship" Sunday morning programming block.
The pilot programs include the name "Day One," which will become the new name for The Protestant Hour.
The featured speaker for the pilot programs is the Rt. Rev. J. Neil Alexander, Episcopal bishop of Atlanta. Responses from representatives of other participating denominations are also featured. Representing the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA) in both programs is the Rev. Debra Samuelson, Lutheran Church of the Redeemer, Atlanta.
America at Worship is broadcast from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., Eastern Time, on Sundays. The Protestant Hour segment will be broadcast at 10 a.m. The Hallmark Channel is available on many cable systems and DirecTV, and reaches 43.5 million homes.
The Protestant Hour is a cooperative outreach of the ELCA, Episcopal Media Center, Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) and United Methodist Church. The program is in its 57th year of ecumenical radio broadcasts. The television version, produced in association with Faith and Values Media, is to begin airing on a weekly basis this summer. ---
