CHICAGO (ELCA) -- The Rev. Mark S. Hanson, presiding bishop of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA), is the author of a new book, "Faithful Yet Changing: The Church in Challenging Times." The book presents Hanson's vision for the ELCA.
Augsburg Fortress, the Minneapolis-based publishing house of the ELCA, published the 82-page book.
"What I am hearing in the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America is that this church wants a bishop who will articulate the mission, rooted in word and sacrament, to which God is calling us -- and help us imagine what the church can look like for the sake of mission," Hanson said in the book's introduction. "In these challenging times, we seek together to be a church that is faithful yet changing."
In the book Hanson articulates his vision for a witnessing, worshiping, engaging, equipping, inviting, connecting, changing and praying church.
Hanson said he is receiving no compensation for the book. -- -- --
