Six Students At ELCA Colleges Receive Rossing Physics Scholarships

Six students at colleges and universities of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA) received Rossing Physics Scholarships toward educational expenses for the current academic year.
Three of the scholarships were for $10,000 each:
+ Jake V. Bennett, sophomore, Roanoke College, Salem, Va.
+ Samantha Hoffmann, junior, Texas Lutheran University, Seguin, Texas
+ John Nichol, senior, St. Olaf College, Northfield, Minn.
Another three scholarships were for $3,000 each:
+ Matt Broughton, senior, Augsburg College, Minneapolis
+ Joey Paulsen, junior, St. Olaf College, Northfield, Minn.
+ Erin Smith, sophomore, Gettysburg College, Gettysburg, Pa.
The ELCA Foundation established the Rossing Fund for Physics Education Endowment in 2005 from gifts by Dr. Thomas Rossing, a professor of physics at Northern Illinois University, DeKalb, and former president of the American Association of Physics Teachers. The endowment is used for scholarships to students in physics and to strengthen education in physics at the ELCA's 28 colleges and universities.
