A musical adaptation of "The Book of the Dun Cow" by the Rev.
Walt Wangerin Jr., Valparaiso (Ind.) University's award-winning
author and well-known speaker, will open in an off-Broadway
premiere Feb. 4 in New York City. The show will be staged at the
West End Theatre under the direction of Cara Reichel.
For 10 years Wangerin was the speaker on "Lutheran Vespers" (now
"Grace Matters"), the radio ministry of the Evangelical Lutheran
Church in America. The musical version of Wangerin's book was
first staged at Valparaiso in 1997. "The Book of the Dun Cow,"
winner of the National Book Award, is an allegory set in a time
when the sun turned round the Earth and animals could speak.
