About 40,000 teenage and adult Lutherans will gather this summer

As many as 40,000 high-school-age and adult Lutherans from around
the world are expected to attend the 2006 Youth Gathering of the
Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA) July 5-9 and July
12-16 in San Antonio, Texas. Under the theme "Cruzando: Journey
with Jesus" Lutherans will begin and end each day with
inspirational activities in the Alamodome, take part in community
service projects in and around the San Antonio area, and
participate in interactive events at the Henry B. Gonzalez
Convention Center. Mail-in and online registration at the ELCA's
Web site started Sept. 15, 2005, and will close May 5.
Registration for week two is closed.

The ELCA Multicultural Youth Leadership Event will take place
July 2-5 at the Gonzalez Convention Center. The ELCA Definitely-
Abled Youth Leadership Event will be held July 2-5 at the
Marriott Rivercenter Hotel. The Seventh Triennial Convention of
the Lutheran Youth Organization (LYO) will take place July 9-12.
LYO business sessions will be held at the Gonzalez Convention
Center; other convention activities will take place at the
Marriott Riverwalk Hotel. LYO represents about 500,000 high-
school-age members of the ELCA.
