LWR President Kathryn Wolford named one of Maryland's Top 100 Women

Kathryn F. Wolford, president, Lutheran World Relief (LWR),
Baltimore, was honored May 8 as one of Maryland's Top 100 Women.
The Maryland Daily Record awarded her the honor also in 2002 and
2004, placing her in its prestigious "Circle of Excellence." The
Daily Record is a statewide business and legal daily newspaper
based in Baltimore. Annually it recognizes successful female
professionals who "give back" by mentoring others and working in
their communities.

LWR is the overseas relief and development ministry of the
Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA) and Lutheran Church-
Missouri Synod.

Wolford is a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Gettysburg College,
Gettysburg, Pa. She earned master's degrees from the Harris
School of Public Policy, University of Chicago, and the Divinity
School, University of Chicago. Gettysburg College and Muhlenberg
College, Allentown, Pa., two of 28 ELCA colleges and
universities, awarded Wolford with honorary doctorates. She
became LWR president in 1993, after working in relief and
development in Latin America and the Caribbean.
