Noted television journalist Jim Lehrer will address graduating
seniors May 21 at Bethany College, Lindsborg, Kan., one of 28
colleges and universities of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in
America (ELCA). Lehrer is a native of Wichita, Kan.

Lehrer is executive editor of "The NewsHour with Jim Lehrer." He
joined PBS in Washington in 1972, teaming with Robert MacNeil in
1973 to cover the U.S. Senate Watergate hearings. In 1975 they
began what became "The MacNeil/Lehrer Report," and in 1983, the
"MacNeil/Lehrer NewsHour." When MacNeil retired in 1995, the
program was renamed "The NewsHour with Jim Lehrer." Lehrer has
moderated 10 presidential debates. He is an accomplished author,
having written 15 novels, two memoirs and three plays.

The Rev. Kathryn Love, associate director for evangelism, ELCA Evangelical Outreach and Congregational Mission, Chicago, will preach May 21 at a baccalaureate worship service. Bethany College's commencement ceremonies are part of a series of events celebrating Bethany College 125th anniversary. The celebration continues through December 2006.
