Newberry College, Newberry, S.C., announced a record year in
regular giving during the 2005-2006 fiscal year that ended June
30. Nearly $4 million in total giving was recorded. Newberry is
one of 28 colleges and universities of the Evangelical Lutheran
Church in America.

"We are very gratified by the continued support and trust placed
in us by our constituency," said Mitchell M. Zais, president of
Newberry College, in a news release. "We sincerely appreciate all
of the people of Newberry County and all of the supporters of the
college who have worked so diligently to bring about this
result."

A new residence hall is scheduled for completion later this
summer. Newberry College is also adding a new football field in
the fall, a new athletic field in spring 2007, and plans to
remodel faculty offices and to renovate Keller Hall to house a
new program in Christian vocation and ethics.
